Stuff

So, we've been really busy since the last blog (what else is new).  I figured I would just tell about several things to bring us up-to-date.

Cade has finished his soccer for the fall season and he absolutely loved it.  He is already asking when he gets to start again.  I think the sign up for the spring is in February, hopefully he won't keep asking until then.  Two weeks ago Cade scored his first goal and he was super excited!  After his last game, the team had a end of season party at Cici's.  The got a small plaque from the YMCA and their coach got them all trophies.  He loved every bit of it.  He made some good friends and is looking forward to playing with them again in the spring.

Addi is growing like a weed and is doing more and more things everyday.  She reaches for everything that is put in front of her and she rolls all over the place.  We started baby food this past Monday and she loves it.  She is continuing to babble and laugh and she is so sweet!  Yesterday she showed the first signs of getting a little fussy when she is not familiar with someone.  She wouldn't take her bottle from our friend Kim (any time you put a bottle in front of her she's going to eat).  Then I got her and she started chowing down.  I have to admit, I kind of liked it!

Everything else is going well.  I turned 31 on November 2nd and had a great day.  We went to dinner with the Meijer's and had a blast.  We always have a blast with them!!

The Pumpkin Patch

Today Darrell and I took Cade and Addi to the pumpkin patch at Clear Lake United Methodist Church.  This has become a tradition and it was so enjoyable having the whole family there.  We took several pictures of the kids and then Cade picked out three pumpkins.  We are planning on carving the large one this weekend.  We also took a few pictures of Addi in her Halloween costume.  I took pictures of Cade in his costume for his first trip to the pumpkin patch.  The pictures turned out cute and we had a great time!

The Weekend of Firsts

So, just like always I am super late with posting about something that happened two weeks ago.  The weekend of October 1st we had three firsts occur in our family.  On Friday, Cade and Addison's babysitter was closed, so Mimi and PaCade came over to watch them while we were at work.  Addison had been really close to rolling over for days.  She decided to roll over for the first time while we were working and she was playing with them.  It didn't take long for her to show her stuff to us though.  Saturday morning when we got home from Cade's game, she was quick to roll over for me and I was able to catch it on tape.  She was so proud of herself.

On Saturday, October 2nd, Cade won his first soccer game.  He played really well and got real close to scoring a goal.  The kids are so cute, when someone scores, the entire team celebrates as if they were the one to make the goal.  I can't get over how much Cade is enjoying this!  He really likes it and can't wait until Mondays for practice and then Saturdays for games.

On Sunday, October 3rd, Addi had her first taste of semi-solid food.  We tried cereal for the first time.  At first she didn't know what to think about it.  It took her a while to realize that she had to eat cereal totally different than how she takes her formula.  She didn't make a mess at all.  (Maybe Mommy is better with feeding the second time around.)  She still doesn't really have it down yet, but practice makes perfect!

Four Months Already

I really don't know where the time goes.  It is crazy that Addison is already four months.  She is growing and changing every day.  She is such a happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time.  It takes very little to get a smile on her face.  Addi absolutely loves her brother to death.  All he has to do is look at her, and she lights up and gets the biggest smile on her face (I should be paying him for all of his help with getting her to smile for pictures).  Sometimes she just has to hear his voice and she immediately turns to find him.  Watching the two of them is one of the sweetest things.  It's amazing how much they already love each other.

The past two months have been busy.  Addison had a urinary tract infection that Darrell and I were both really nervous about.  It is extremely rare for a child to get a UTI, so when we realized she had one we were anxious to find out if everything was okay.  We were told that she could have a reflux problem and we had to take her to Texas Children's Hospital for some tests.  After all of that we found out it was just a fluke ordeal.

She had her four month checkup on Monday and the doctor said she looked wonderful!  She weighs 13 pounds and 10 ounces and is 23 3/4 inches long.  All of her measurements put her in the 50th percentile.  This is all new to us.  When Cade was this age he was in the 95th percentile for everything.  He also said that she is ready to try cereal and from there we can start introducing fruits and veggies.  This makes me a little sad because I can't believe she is old enough to start these things.

Cade had his four year checkup a week and a half before and he is doing great too.  He had to have six shots (and did really well considering).  The doctor told me she was happy to see that his height and weight are proportional.  She said they very rarely see that these days.  Since his younger appointments, he is now in the 75th percentile for weight and he is in the 95th percentile for height (he is really tall for his age!).

He has had a couple of soccer games so far and is loving every minute of it.  He played defense for the first time last week and did really well...I think coach has decided that he will play defense permanently.  It is so much fun watching all of those kids play.  He even has two little girls from church that are on his team.

Things are good!!

Astros Game

Needless to say I'm a little behind on posting.  The other weekend...I think two Saturdays ago we went with some of our good friends, the Sentell's, to the Astros game.  It was great getting to hang out with them.  I think this might have been the first time that we have been "out" with them since the girls were born.  Kinsley is five weeks older than Addison.  We went to Chuy's for dinner first and then we headed out to the game.

The game was fun and we had a really good time visiting with each other.  Cade's favorite part was when Carlos "Leaf" (as he calls him) scored a home run.  Of course I was changing a diaper and missed it.  The Astros lost, but it was good a time.

Cade's First Soccer Game

This morning Cade had his first soccer game.  His team is the Washington DC Sharks.  He was so excited, I felt him tapping me at 6:58 this morning so he could get ready for his game.  So cute!  I got him dressed bright and early and then  Addison had to get ready to cheer on her big brother.  I ordered her a onesie that has soccer ribbon, and it says "Cade's Sister".  It turned out really cute.

At the beginning of the game I think he was a little unsure of how to play another team.  He did really well but was timid to kick the ball away from the "bad guys".  As he got warmed up, it didn't seem to bother him anymore.  He played really well.  Of course, it was cute to see a few of the players not have a clue, it looked like they didn't even understand where they were and what they were supposed to be doing.  I definitely experienced my competitive nature come out.  It was really hard to remember that they are only four and it's not all about winning.

Cade's 4th Birthday Party

So, it's taken me almost two weeks to get this post up.  Needless to say, things have been pretty busy with school starting and now Cade has started soccer and swim lessons.

We celebrated Cade's birthday at our neighborhood pool again this year.  Cade loves it and it is so nice to have the pool all to ourselves.  Several of his friends came and everyone had a great time.  We were glad to get to spend a couple of hours with family and good friends.  I was a little nervous about the weather, the weather guys had predicted a 60% chance of rain, but it ended up being beautiful.  There was even a nice breeze so if you weren't swimming, you weren't too hot.  The kids, and adults, played in the water and slid down the slides (I know that part was a good workout for me...it's hard work trying to touch the bottom and catch a kid who is flying at you out of the bottom of the slide).  Even Addi spent some time in the water!!

When it was time to open presents, Cade was so funny.  After every present he opened, he would so, "Oh, it's just what I wanted."  He hadn't seen half of the gifts he opened before.  It was pretty cute!!  He was so excited about all of his gifts and it was really difficult for him to wait until we got home to open them.

The day was great and I still have a hard time believing that my little man is already four!
