5 Months

We're Five Months

Can you tell we're teething!

I just have to start by saying how much I love these two (I know, shocker!). There is no such thing as too many kisses at our house, and it's a good thing. They have brought us so much happiness and quite frankly, I can't get enough of them. They are changing more and more every day and their personalities are really shining through.

We have started introducing cereal and vegetables and surprise, surprise, Easton LOVES everything we've given him. Emerson on the other hand is not so fond of the veggies. She absolutely cannot stand green beans and she's thinking about giving squash a chance. It's pretty entertaining watching her facial expressions and even more dramatic, the gagging that takes place!

I absolutely HATE this!

Both of them enjoy being in the exersaucers. Right now we have to tuck a blanket in front of them so that they don't fall over and hit their faces. They both have their preferences though. Easton likes being in the one where he can jump (he absolutely loves to bounce--even when you are holding him he likes to bounce). Emerson prefers the exersaucer that doesn't bounce, but has A LOT more toys to play with. She spins around in the seat to play with all of them. It's so neat to watch them focus in on a toy and reach for it. And then it goes right into their mouths. With that said, I think they both must have teeth trying to come in because EVERYTHING goes into their mouth. This includes, but is not limited to, mom's bracelets, the finger of anyone they grab, their own toes, etc.

My absolute favorite thing that has started is that Easton has become quite the cuddle bug! He lays his head on my shoulder or chest and just loves on you! I LOVE THIS! Emerson, on the other hand, doesn't want to have anything to do with that. She is a little nosy rosy and is afraid that if she lays her head down she is going to miss something. The crazy thing about all of this is that Cade and Addi were the exact same way. Cade loved to cuddle with me and Addi really didn't care much about cuddling.

This past month we also experienced our first virus. Easton had a bad cough and our pediatrician put him on an inhaler to loosen the symptoms. Cade and Addi both had to be on inhalers as infants, so this was nothing new to us. He is now much better!

We are simply loving life and I could not be happier that I am now out of school and I can spend more time with my two love bugs!! We are truly blessed!!

*Loves smiling, loves to watch Chloe (our dog), very observant about things (nosy rosy), very active when having her diaper changed and while taking a bath!

She Would Be Four

Today marks another birthday that we are not having with our sweet Addison! We were able to celebrate her first birthday and that's it. I'm realizing that we will always have days that are just plain tough and they are not only the birthdays. The other day I was leaving school and I just lost it. I'm driving in the car and nothing triggered the memory. Sometimes a song will come on or I'll see something and that will get the tears flowing. That day I just pictured her poking her head around a hospital wall in her little capris and Toms, just like it was yesterday. I miss her SO much! I wonder what she would look like and what she would be into. It just stinks!!

I'm so thankful that we have so many pictures and videos of her. One of my favorite things to do is look through old pictures and watch the videos I have of her and her brother. That way, I'll never forget the sound of their voices and all of the little and big things we did together. You learn real quick, there is no such thing as too many pictures!! We have pictures that show everything that Addison was and everything that she loved. She was such a sweet girl with a lot of "Addi-tude"! She loved bows, bracelets, and books. AND her absolute favorite…Mr. G! We didn't go anywhere without him!! I miss her dancing, smiles, laughs, and most of all her hugs and kisses!!

So many people ask us how we do it…how we get up in the morning and live life. The only answer I have is the big guy upstairs. God is the only way I think anyone can get through something like this. I remember getting in the car after the funeral and looking at Darrell and saying, "Now I know how some parents never get through something like this." If I felt the way I did in that moment every day, I totally understand! We have FAITH & HOPE…truthfully, that's what got us through the months we waited anxiously for a new heart and what is getting us through the life we are living now. He is our everything and who we lean on always!!

Four Months and Counting

4 Months

Yes, I realize this post is way overdue, but life is busy and fun and I haven't had time to sit down and write about our two love bugs! They are four months old (well, actually two and a half months now) and doing so well! It's crazy how much they have grown and changed in a month. The biggest change is their personalities!! Both Easton and Emerson are so happy and you can easily make them smile (most of the time for Emerson, sometimes she gets pretty serious and doesn't want to have anything to do with smiling...it cracks me up!). Emerson is more laid back and Easton requires a little more attention at times (this keeps changing). They recognize our voices and this makes me ecstatic. I can walk into Ashley's to pick them up after school and start talking and they will find me. LOVE it!!

They are now both laughing (this takes a little more work) and rolling over. They're pretty good at the rolling over part, but it frustrates them sometimes to be on their bellies. Neither one of them have ever been big fans of being on their stomach. And, I have yet to get it on video because every time I get out the camera, they choose not to do it! Both are getting stronger and better at holding their heads up. It has taken Easton a little longer, but poor guy, he has a lot bigger head!

Sleeping is going well also. Both are still sleeping through the night which is amazing! Naps on the other hand have been a struggle. It's a work in progress trying to get both of them to nap at the same time. Nap boot camp will start once I'm out of school. Emerson does well sleeping during the day, but for some reason Easton is having trouble with soothing himself and staying asleep, or getting back to sleep if he is startled.

Everything else is going SO good! Each day is such a joy, even on the tough ones, they just smile and it makes everything better!! Love them both more than words, and of course, right up to the moon and back!!
